FAQ’s

  • As a general guide, we recommend allowing around four weeks for visa applications to be processed. That said, we’ve successfully secured visas in as little as 7–10 days when timelines are tight. Expedited pathways are possible, but typically come with increased costs. We’re happy to advise early to ensure your visa timelines align with your production schedule.

  • For most film and commercial productions, crews will typically apply under the Temporary Activity Visa (subclass 408). The exact pathway can vary depending on the nature of the project and the roles involved, so we’ll guide you through the process and, where needed, connect you with trusted immigration specialists to ensure everything is handled correctly.Description text goes here

  • As a guide, the visa application itself is typically around AUD $500 per person. In addition, productions should allow approximately AUD $800 per visa for processing, administration, and any supporting legal or advisory services. Costs can vary depending on the complexity and urgency of the application, and we’ll help you budget accurately based on your specific production.

  • Australian crew rates are generally on par with those in the US and Europe. We work with a trusted network that includes some of Australia’s leading heads of department, as well as highly capable mid-level and emerging crew to suit a range of budgets. As a guide, for short-form or commercial work, an experienced cinematographer may range from AUD $1,500 to $2,500 per day (excluding gear). We’re also able to negotiate flat or weekly rates to help productions manage costs effectively.

  • We operate Australia-wide. While Watchpost is based in Adelaide (which is conveniently centrally located), we regularly deliver productions across all major cities, regional areas, and remote locations. Our national network allows us to scale crews and resources to suit the needs of each project, wherever it takes us.

  • Yes. As a full-service production and post-production company, we can take your project through to final delivery if required. We’re also highly experienced in supporting inbound productions with remote workflows — including proxy creation, dailies, and high-speed rushes delivery to overseas editorial teams via secure transfer. This allows your post team to stay wherever they’re based, while we manage the pipeline on the ground in Australia.
