The Run Goes to Cannes with Adelaide Film Festival
We’re beyond excited to share that our debut feature film, The Run, produced by our sister company Arterial Films, with Watchpost servicing post-production, has been selected as part of the ‘Adelaide Film Festival Goes to Cannes’ initiative.
This prestigious program supports five standout South Australian projects to attend the Cannes Film Festival and Marché du Film - the world’s most influential film market. It’s an incredible honour made possible by the support of the Adelaide Film Festival, enabling writer-director Stephen de Villiers and producer Chloe Gardner to present The Run as part of the official AFF Goes to Cannes showcase: a curated event that connects South Australian creatives with the global film industry.
An International Stage for The Run
While this won’t be The Run’s official premiere, we’re thrilled to be sharing the film through private screenings with distributors, festival programmers, and other industry professionals during Cannes — a chance to connect with some of the world’s leading voices in film as we work to bring The Run to audiences in Australia and around the world.
Partnering with Global Screen
During our time at Cannes, we’ll meet with our international sales agent, Global Screen, who is representing The Run at the Marché du Film. It’s an exciting step forward as we introduce the film to buyers and distributors.
Celebrating South Australian Stories
We extend our congratulations to the incredible filmmakers selected alongside us. The projects featured in the AFF Goes to Cannes showcase highlight the depth and diversity of South Australian storytelling:
Rewilder (Producer Madeleine Parry)
Troublemaker (Co-director Jared Nicholson)
Acts of Forgetting (Producer Philippa Campey)
Diabolic (Producer/Director Daniel J Phillips)
We’re honoured to travel with such talented creatives and look forward to representing South Australia together.
The Journey Continues
The Run—a gritty, dystopian action thriller exploring survival, hope, and humanity - has been a true labour of love. To see it reach Cannes is a milestone we’ll cherish, but it’s just the beginning.
Follow us for updates as we hit the Croisette, connect with global industry leaders, and continue championing bold, independent Australian cinema.
