Investing in Our Team: Watchpost Receives Skills Development Funding from Screen Australia
We’re thrilled to announce that Watchpost has been awarded Skills Development Funding through Screen Australia—a major boost for our team and our ongoing commitment to professional growth.
This initiative allows us to invest in the people who make Watchpost what it is—deepening their expertise, broadening their capabilities, and helping us deliver even more for our clients and creative partners.
What Is the Skills Development Initiative?
Screen Australia’s Skills Development Initiative is a targeted funding stream designed to help screen professionals—particularly emerging and mid-career practitioners—access meaningful, hands-on training opportunities in real production environments.
The goal is to build long-term industry capacity by supporting structured upskilling across key roles like editing, VFX, post supervision, producing, and more.
We’re incredibly grateful to be selected and can’t wait to share how this support is already shaping our team.
Upskilling the Watchpost Way
Here’s how we’re using the funding:
Wilson Tran, our Head of Post, is undertaking bespoke VFX training to build on his already exceptional skill as an editor—giving us greater flexibility and creative capacity across visual effects and finishing.
Maisie Fabry, one of our in-house producers, is diving into post-production supervision training—gaining insight into workflows, delivery specs, and the finer points of managing post from end to end.
Alice Yang, one of our directors and editors, is also stepping into the world of post supervision, adding new skills that support her evolution as a creative leader and technical all-rounder.
These upskilling pathways are already being applied across our active slate, including the post-production of our feature film The Run and our web series Bloom.
What This Means for Our Clients
We believe great post-production is about more than just finishing—it’s about creating an environment where creative talent and technical excellence intersect.
By investing in our people, we’re ensuring Watchpost continues to grow as one of South Australia’s leading boutique post houses, offering full-service post with heart, hustle, and precision.
Big thanks to Screen Australia for believing in our vision—and to Wilson, Maisie, and Alice for diving into their development with passion and purpose.
